Though Taco Bell has seen success with its AI deployment with two million correct orders to-date, it is re-evaluating its use of AI in drive-throughs after online videos showed the system making ordering mistakes. The system, which was meant to streamline orders and reduce mistakes, created the opposite effect recently, leading to glitches and frustrating some customers.

A company executive acknowledged these challenges, stating they will be more careful where AI is deployed. This public setback follows a similar retreat by McDonald's, highlighting the significant real-world struggles fast-food chains are facing in their push for automated service.
