The shift toward algorithmic authority is the true academic challenge, not just simple cheating. With data showing students using AI to solve over a third of their assignments, education is now facing the systemic risk of outsourcing intellectual judgment to Big Tech's platforms.

This reliance fundamentally erodes the capacity for independent thought and transfers the control of knowledge itself away from the student. Institutions must urgently look beyond plagiarism policies and address this crisis of cognitive outsourcing before critical reasoning becomes an archaic skill.
