We're trapped in an AI arms race, constantly forced to upgrade our skills just to keep up. Big Tech companies now profit from a "disruption-as-a-service" model, intentionally creating a cycle of rapid technological churn that makes our knowledge obsolete.

This perpetual state of insecurity, accelerated by geopolitical tensions, shifts the burden of staying relevant and safe entirely onto the individual. Toh argues we must demand a new approach to tech development, where AI serves our well-being rather than causing anxiety and job insecurity.
